“I Wish I Could Join a Club.”

club은 우리가 흔히 알고 있는 동아리나 써클 모임을 말하는 것으로 ‘클럽에 가입하다’는 join/sign up a club, ‘클럽에서 탈퇴하다’는 leave/quit the club이라고 표현합니다.

Betty: Hey, Peter, what are you doing tonight?

Peter: I’m actually going to my chess club meeting. We meet twice a week for two hours.

Betty: Really? I had no idea you played chess!

Peter: I haven’t played in a while, but I miss it. I used to be really good.

Betty: I wish I could join a club, but it takes up so much time. I don’t know how I'd work it into my schedule.

Peter: I talked to the school administrators about it, and they actually said I could bring my students!

Betty: That’s awesome! So now you can teach them an American game as well as the language!

Peter: Yeah, they are good Go players, and Go is much harder than chess. We’ll wipe the floor with everybody!
